Day Joy - New Ordinary

The title of this song feels loaded with irony as duo Michael Serrin and Peter Michael Perceval are writing songs like this from the belly of one of the towns ‘ordinary’ Americas love to idolize, Orlando, Florida.  That the music scene there is a vibrant as a Disney sunset comes as a bit of a surprise, but I’m willing to swallow that pill whole as long as great songs like this keep bubbling up.

Peter writes: “Michael and I… recorded most of our tracks in my living room switching off instruments between the two of us and using a pretty simple setup of some condensors and SM57’s. All of the songs have developed into very lush and layered recordings but they started with just the two of us on a porch writing together.”

Look for their new material to drop “in the form of an EP/7” in early 2012 with the full album being released probably closer to Spring.”

As if wrapping leftovers with a plastic wrap, Penique covers an entire space in a transformative color, changing the way the viewer sees the space, and simplifying the viewing experience and space to a simple color construction.

Brick+Motar - Move to the Ocean

This b-side single from duo Brandon Asraf + John Tacon of Asbury Park, New Jersey is only a small taste of the talent these guys are bringing to the table. Mangled and bangin’, it serves as a meatier side dish to the lead track “Heatstroke”.

Pick up their Heatstroke ‘maxi-single’ over on Bndcmp along with lots of rad swag like reverse tie-dyed band shirts.
